New Kitchen & Dining

Simple extensions often aren’t!  But this one turned out as expected and without major problems.

Whilst externally the extension appears plain and un-inspired internally the new kitchen and family area has transformed this section of the house.

New Offices

New officesA building providing a new public library for Sandwell Library Services and New Office for Black Country Housing Group.
This building may appear to be totally out of character with any others in our portfolio but as such is a prime example of the outcome of working closely with all members of the design and construction team with an aim to produce an innovative built form that meets all of the Client’s requirements including achieving an excellent sustainability rating.

The internal spaces are often merely a result of the external design but on this occasion the complexity of the many cross sections through the building resulted in a “cathedral” like feel to the second floor.   Considerable efforts were made to integrate the mechanical and electrical services into the building.

Fully Accessible Bathroom

Fully accessible bathroom1 new dwelling through John Grooms H.A. for an extended family with disabilities located in Aston.

Completed in 2006 this commission came through contacts in the housing association sector.
The brief was to accommodate a family of 10, 6 of whom were, or would be shortly become, wheelchair bound.  The design built on and extended from an existing house type previously built, as there is little point in re-designing the wheel, however, due to the numbers of occupants and their particular needs the resulting house bears little resemblance to its origins.  On a site that had lain vacant for many years the design endeavoured to fit between a mixture of housing styles and periods whilst maintaining a character of its own.

The bathrooms at this property were obviously a major factor in the design all requiring special attention.
